Morocco: Fretilin Condemns Persistence Of Moroccan Occupation In Western Sahara

Revolutionary Front for an Independent East Timor (Fretilin) has condemned "the Moroccan policy in continuing its illegal occupation of Western Sahara, according to a statement concludes the 3rd Congress of the Front held September 08-11.

The party called for "immediate withdrawal of the Moroccan occupation from Western Sahara and the establishment of an international force to hold a referendum on self-determination which allows the Saharawi people to freely choose their future."

The statement accused the Moroccan government of the lack of political will in seeking a just and lasting solution to put an end to the Saharawi people suffering. This position has created a political situation in the whole region, which discredits the Kingdom of Morocco, both internally and at the international scene.

Fretilin has finally condemned the policy "of systematic repression, violence and oppression exercised by Morocco against the Sahrawi defenseless citizens in the occupied territories of Western Sahara".
